Story 7: Case of the Camera Obscura

Posted by jasonblue, 12:10am, 30 Oct, 2005

Story 7 starts on Wednesday 2 Nov. After that refreshingly short story #6, it's time for something a bit longer. And there's a popular plot device I'm dying to try out...

BTW, those that don't know what a camera obscura is, its a device that has a pinhole in a wall to look at an object with a lens and it appears on an opposite wall, although upside down :)

hehe, I just like to read and all that.

also, go here for a more in depth explaination: http://brightbytes.com/cosite/what.html

Am I the only one who thinks this is related in some way to the Annabelle portrait, given that the one of Crystal is from story 5 and Barlow's is from 6?

It could be, considering the previous portraits.

For those who are unaware:

Barlow's portrait --> Skull (from 'Mrs. McGuffin's Corpse')
Crystal's portrait --> Matrimonials (from 'The Third Vault')

Actually, someone did identify it (me). A while back, Jason had a trivia question in the shoutbox, asking people to try and name what it is.

It's a Bolex Reflex Movie Camera.

Does the title refer to a camera that has it's lens cap stuck on? (obscured camera) Or does it refer to all the private affairs in this town? (Behind closed doors) Or is there going to be a solar eclipse in Spider Cliff? (camera obscura as a device used to safely observe an eclipse without harming the retina)

Rognik, its a latin name and it refers to a real device, which I think Jason really is referring to. Although we haven't seen anything resembling such a device yet. But Annabelle bieng a photography expert, will know what they are.

I hope we find out more about whats going on with the paper mammals next story.

I know it's a Latin term (I referred to it in my second question), but that doesn't mean it has to be how Jason is going to use it. It could easily be a camera that doesn't reveal all the details in its photographs. Just because it's the easiest or most obvious answer, doesn't make it the correct answer.
