I would think he dressed up to impress Annabelle.
Turnip cannot have heard anything even if he lived back when the murder happened, he learnt to talk from Barlow.

ROMANTIC INTRIGUE!

although Alex is always trying to get Barlow to confess his undying passion for Crystal... we always thought nothing of it but maybe he was trying to find out whether he had competition.

I like Alex-Annabelle, but love triangles are always fun, and they could be friggin hilarious in these circumstances.

I could see in future chapters the boys doing things to try and impress Crystal and somehow they would both end up backfiring. Or one doing something to impress her and the other trying to thwart his attempts.

Well Eliza is also a blake, and Rebecca said that she was also in line for becoming a demon hunter. Its entirely possible they have two families that can become demon hunters, that way if the current demon hunter dies and the next person is too old or young (or whatever mysterious system they use for choosing them), there could be someone in the other family that will work. It's logical and also helps to cover any generation gaps.

I think Turnip is around Barlows age or a bit younger, Also in the first chapter of the last story, Turnip said he had begged him not to go in there and that was 10 years ago. So they were both kids when Turnip learned how to talk.

As far as the Himalayan Canine, its entirely possible for the bones to have been that old, and the 'general disregard to cultural amenities' can easily be explained by bieng from a different culture or even bieng a Buhddist. They really need to look more closely at what the coffin is made of or anything else. In other words, they should have treated it more like an archaeological gravesite.

Intuition.....tingling......

It could be possible that this Himalayan canine could be part of Crystal's demon lineage? An ancestor?

Or is that what Jason wants me to think?

Ummm, I don't really think so...I mean her mother was a gorgon and her father was a chinese water demon...
I keep thinking of the "let the seed be planted" thing the oracle said.
For some strange reason I keep thinking time travel...or maybe she didn't have a name yet...odd...

The time-travel thing is highly unlikely, Crystal has no canine features and nothing in her lineage to suggest any ancestor of hers having canine features. As for the whole "Alex likes Crystal!" idea, um, yeaah, I'm going to have to go with no on that one.

definitely it isnt time travel.....what ever happens later is already considered the "future" anyway and unless somebody is going into the past it just wouldnt make sense to

are any part of the Himalayas in China, or is it all Tibet?

Posted by smjjames, 10:26am, 7 Oct, 2005

The Himalayas are mostly in China, but China claims Tibet as a providence of China which is inside the Himalayas (hence all the problems that have happened in the area). A few other countries also lie on the Himalayas, Nepal is on the edge of the area, India borders them (the Ganges river has its headwaters in the Himalayas). As is Bhutan and Banglagesh.

Thats according to the Nationalgeographic interactive map, but thats modern day political borders. I tried to find a map of Asia around the 1920s during lunch, but the best I could find is this from the late 19th century. The political borders haven't changed too much in the Himalayas region (other than India's independence and the formation of Pakistan and Burma, and the south east asian area)http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/historical/asia_1892_amer_ency_brit.jpg

What if one of Barlow's books that his Aunt Vedalia hid was cursed?
...okay, dumb idea, but it's a thought...

Posted by don'tmilkpuppies, 8:48pm, 7 Oct, 2005

whoa... thanks. lol. so chinese demon could also be himalayan. except i don't know how much water there is in those mountains.

vega, that's a good idea! except the curse idea was kinda already done, but u might be right that there was a bigger reason his aunt vedalia hid those books. the whole "he has to learn from EXPERIENCE" was kinda iffy.
