Let's put our heads together!

we don't really know that for sure yet. There hasnt been anything indicating a possession. There have been references to Vedalia, but they were mainly either connected to the bean house or from something in the past.
As for annabelle doing it, I would have thought that Crystal would have sensed her nearby or something.

I see your point but crystal did say in the first mystery that something was blocking her demon senses.Thats probobly the explanation for her not sensing alistair bean in mystery 4 and not sensing vedalia now and any1 saying its the cactus in chapter 1 blocking her demon senses she was repulsed because its a cactus! Its prickly!

I wonder if she will ever find out what is blocking her demon senses...

I'd assumed it was the mayor's urn from chapter two, but of course it could be one of the town's other defences.

she mentioned being repulsed by the cactus in chapter 1, maybe it is weakening her somehow.

If Crystal and Annabelle are eating "intelligent" and "evil" brains being piped through a tap in Vedalia's house, could one or both be unduly influenced by whatever is in the brains? Why would a deceased demon hunter have brains piped into their house, anyway?

it has to do with the previous story ....the man who possesed alex put a spell on the tap bc he was housing that zombie along time ago remember?

The brains are just disturbing. They have to be coming from somewhere, and it won't be anywhere good. At some point, presumably, we'll find out.

Rora, thank you for the heads-up that I was missing something. I hadn't gotten all the way through the previous story, so I went ahead and did so. Still, I agree with manigen, that the source of the brains is disturbing!
Odd that Eliza's photos didn't pick up anything. I'll have to go back and see if she said they were completely blank, or if they just didn't detect any motion. Somehow that's connected to the gust of wind in the diner, don't ya think?
Posted by smjjames, 10:47am, 29 Aug, 2005
yea thats likely. But she didnt say any specifics, just that she didn't detect movement. its just wierd since even with time lapse photography she would have noticed if they popped out of the ground fungi-style. Thats why I made the post saying curiouser and curiouser about the matrimonials and I challenged Jason to come up with a solution after that clue really changed things.
but its still obvious he has a plan in mind and I'd like to see what REALLY happens to the plants.

Actually, Eliza said that the camera took pictures of "absolutely nothing," which could be interpreted either as no movement or no images at all.
Maybe the plants move so fast that they can't be detected? Maybe Eliza ended up putting the sensor on her own plant, which kept it from attracting a mate? Hmm.
